City of WIlson Transient Guest Tax Ordinance

ORDINANCE NO. 849

AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE TRANSIENT
GUEST TAX AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 840
AND ANY OTHER ORDINANCES IN WHOLE OR PART THAT ARE IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.  

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF WILSON, KANSAS:
Section 1. There is hereby levied a transient guest tax of 3% upon the gross receipts derived from or paid by transient guest for sleeping accommodations, exclusive of charges for incidental services and facilities in any hotel, motel, or tourist court located within the City of Wilson, Kansas as defined by KSA 12-1692 and KSA 12-1695.
Section 2.  The tax hereby levied shall be administered and collected by the Kansas Department of Revenue, and the revenue therefrom shall be distributed in accordance with the provision of K.S.A. 12-1696, et seq.  All moneys received from such tax shall be credited to a tourism and convention promotion fund of the city.
Section 3.  This ordinance repeals Ordinance No. 840.
Section 4.  This Ordinance shall take effect on its publication in the official city newspaper, Ellsworth County Independent Reporter.
ADOPTED AND PASSED by the City Council of the City of Wilson, Kansas, this 15th day of July, 2019.
