Jimmy C. Rojas

     Jimmie G. Rojas, 87, Kanopolis, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 in Salina.
     He was born July 25, 1928 in Kanopolis, to Cornelia (Gonzales) and Pilar Rojas. He married Bertha Schwerdtfeger Nov. 26, 1950, in Salina.
     Jimmie was a retired hoist engineer for Independent Salt. He was a member of the St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Kanopolis, St. Bernard’s and St. Ignatius Knights of Columbus, Ellsworth American Legion Post 174, Kanopolis Men’s Club, and a retired member of the Kanopolis Volunteer Fire Department. He also served his country in the Marines during the Korean War.
      Jimmie is survived by his wife, Bertha Rojas of Kanopolis; daughters, Janean Sheridan (Larry) of Holyrood, Sherry Kitchen (Shawn Jones) of Salina and Lichelle Miley (John) of Kanopolis; sons, Genaro Rojas (Deb) of Ellsworth and Vincent Rojas (Diane) of Kanopolis; a sister, Eleanor Fernandez of Salina; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.
     Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with a vigil rosary service at 7 p.m.
     A funeral mass is at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Kanopolis, with burial following in the Kanopolis Cemetery.
