Charles Donald Vopat Sr.
Charles Donald Vopat, Sr., 79, passed away June 7, 2016 at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1937 to Catherine Ann (Foran) and John L. Vopat, Sr. in Ellsworth. He married Lucy Janda in Wilson, Kan. on Sept. 17, 1957.
A lifetime resident of Ellsworth County, Charles was a farmer, stockman, and machinist at Cashco. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lucy Vopat of Wilson; daughter, Veronica Kyler (Tim) of Ellsworth; son, Charles Vopat, Jr. (Ellaine) of Ellsworth; son, Mark Vopat (Rachel Muro) of Kanopolis; daughter, Joan Johnson (Brad Kralik) of Ellsworth; daughter, Mary Ann Heard of Ellsworth; daughter Amanda Vopat (Travis Oakes) of Loveland, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John L. Vopat, Jr.; and sister, Mary Jo Cisneros.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present from 6-7 p.m. and a vigil/rosary service at 7 p.m.
The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at the St. Wenceslaus Church in Wilson with burial following in the Wilson Catholic Cemetery.
