Barbara J. Packer (1942-2017)

 

Barbara J. Packer, 75, of Miami, Okla. passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at her home.  
Barbara was born March 25, 1942 in Ellsworth, Kan.; her parents were A. Frank and Mary (Birka) Dolecek. She attended Ellsworth High School and Business College in Garden City, Kansas. Barbara married Stanley R. Packer on April 15, 1961 in Ellsworth.  Barbara worked at Bloodheart Drug Store in Hugoton, Kan. and seven years later, after making a trip to Bernice on vacation, they moved to Bernice, Okla. and operated Bernice Point Resort for 13 years. They moved to Junction City, Kan. in 1984 and operated the Riverside Amoco Station and Stan’s Amoco Station for about 16 years.  After Stanley’s passing, Barbara moved to Miami, Okla.  
Barbara was preceded in passing by her husband, Stanley Packer, and her parents, A. Frank and Mary Dolecek.
Survivors include her two daughters, Vicki Link, of the home and Pam Foster and husband, Johnie Wayne Foster, of Miami; and son, Mike Packer, and wife, Angie, of Junction City.
Other survivors include grandchildren: Brandon Foster and wife Mika of Miami, Amanda Henry and Josh of Owasso, Courtney Johnson and Tracy of Fort Polk, La., and Corie Moore and Jaquayle of Fort Riley, Kan.; great- grandsons: Hudson Foster, Sawyer Henry, Lane Henry, and Quentin Moore; great-granddaughters Aubree Moore, Jassi Johnson, and Karson Foster; sisters: Millicent Triplett and husband Larry of Salina, Kan., Phyllis Bachelor and husband Russ of Surprise, Ariz., and Marilyn Kipp and Steve of Iola, Kan.; a special sister-in-law, Carole Love and husband JC of Laverne, Okla., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the First Christian Church in Miami.  
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Leon Weece officiating. Interment will follow at Ballard Cemetery in Bernice under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Casketbearers will be Mike Packer, Johnie Wayne Foster, Brandon Foster, Josh Henry, Jaquayle Moore, Tim Jacobs and Tracy Johnson.
