The Art Room receives grant

Two potter’s wheels are available for use at the Art Room. One is a kick wheel and the other is a paddle wheel. A kiln is also available for firing finished articles, but can only be operated by members of The Art Room’s board of directors.

The Art Room, Marquette’s public art studio, located in the old Marquette Elementary School, recently received a grant from the Smoky Valley Community Foundation in the amount of $2,966 to purchase needed items to provide a safe and functional space for a variety of community arts and crafts classes.

Carol Baker, one of the organizers of the Art Room, applied for the grant Oct. 15. The money was received the beginning of December.
