Christmas events planned

By Alan Rusch

The Christmas season is drawing closer by the week and several local holiday events are planned. They are: Operation Christmas Child The national collection week for this year’s Operation Christmas Child is Monday, Nov. 16, through Monday, Nov. 23. Paula (Svaty) Gray is in her second year as coordinator of the collection drive. She took over last year from longtime coordinator Nancy Stonebraker. “It was a little scary to step into, but we’ve got an amazing group that brought in way more boxes than normal,” Gray said. “Where I might have entered the week stressed out, it was a fantastic week. I can’t say I completely filled Nancy’s shoes, but it was a fun experience.”
