VFW recognizes City of Ellsworth, others for work

The City of Ellsworth was named the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485 Citizen of the Year during a ceremony Saturday afternoon at the VFW building in Ellsworth. “They constantly help us and they stand behind us,” said Ellsworth VFW Commander Doug Stefek.

Reeds celebrate golden anniversary

Glenn and Jenny Reed of Holyrood celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 10 with cake and coffee for family and friends at the American Legion Post 200 in Holyrood. The couple were married April 11, 1966 in Wichita, Kan.

Ethan Haase recognized by DAR

Ethan Haase, a senior at Ellsworth Junior/Senior High School, has been chosen to receive a Good Citizen scholarship from the Smoky Hill chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. Ethan was recognized at the organization’s annual tea April 17 at Ellsworth’s First Presbyterian Church.
