Winning coach passes away Feb. 3

When news of the passing of Coach Larry Markley reached Marquette recently, there were many memories that came to mind for members of the 1960-61 Marquette High School football team. Markley was fresh out of Bethany College and starting his coaching career as the Marquette High School football coach. The 1960 team was undefeated and un-scored upon. In fact, the entire Central Plains School District, which also includes Holyrood, Lorraine, Bushton and Claflin, would join Ellsworth and USD 327, according to the analysis.

O’Connors surprised at Chamber meeting

By Alan Rusch

Ellsworth’s Diane and Michael O’Connor attended Saturday’s 68th annual Ellsworth-Kanopolis Chamber of Commerce dinner and meeting at the Ellsworth American Legion building thinking they were just the event’s official photographers. Poetry gives Vietnam veteran a voice
