Ballots canvassed in Ellsworth County

On Monday, the Ellsworth County Commissioners officially canvassed the ballots from the Nov. 5 general election in the county.

According to Ellsworth County Clerk and Elections Officer Shelly Vopat, 73 percent of the county’s 3,884 eligible voters cast ballots in the election. There were a total of 99 provisional ballots, however, during Monday’s canvass, only 68 were officially accepted.

Most of the races were uncontested. As for the contested races, the official results were:

• U.S. President:

Republican — Trump/ Vance, 2,078; Democrat — Harris/Walz, 636; Independent — Kennedy Jr./Shanahan, 33; Libertarian — Oliver/ter Maat, 10

• U.S. Representative, First District: Democrat — Paul Buskirk, 493; Republican — Tracey Mann, 2,233

State Senate, 33rd District: Republican — Tory Marie Blew, 2,059; Democrat — Matthew Westenfeld, 604

State Representative, 109th District: Democrat — Keith Griffin, 453; Republican — Troy L. Waymaster, 2,002; Libertarian — Peter Solie, 251

Clear Creek Trustee: Democrat — James P. Schneider, 29; Republican — Teresa Shute, 32

Wilson City Council (Vote for Three): Jeremy J. Hlad, 209; Charlene B. Zelenka, 205; Jessica Loveland, 196; Anne Piper, 175

Ellsworth City Tax Question: Yes, 532; No, 360
