Corn price up for the week

Prices paid for grain at the Ellsworth Co-op at the end of the business day Monday, Oct. 30, were:

Wheat, bu. — $5.95, down 26 cents from Oct. 23 Milo, bu. — $4.98, down 12 cents Soybeans, bu. — $12.18, down 4 cents Corn, bu. — $4.73, up 3 cents The co-op has locations in Ellsworth, Black Wolf, Farhman, Hitschmann, Holyrood and Kanopolis.

County picks employee health insurance company

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission, after discussion with department heads regarding available options, a decision was made regarding county employees’ health insurance for 2024.

Commissioners approved a motion to go with Aetna Health Insurance through Freedoms Claims Management for one year, effective Jan. 1, 2024.

This avoids a 21 1/2 percent increase in county employee health insurance for 2024.

In other business:

• Approval was given to contract for one year with LockIT Technologies for information technology services not to exceed $65,000. Discussions will take place with individual county departments to finalize the final price quote.

• Ellsworth County Attorney Paul J. Kasper announced the county tax sale will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, on the front steps of the county courthouse. In case of inclement weather, the sale will be inside the courthouse. Registration begins Nov. 1 at the Ellsworth County Clerk’s office.

The next meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at the county courthouse.
