LAWRENCE — Ellsworth senior Peyton Coonrod took first place in advertising design at the Kansas Scholastic Press Association State Journalism Contest May 4 at the University of Kansas.

Those who competed were junior Allie Thomasson in yearbook copywriting and cutline writing; junior Nash Hellebust in sports action photography and sports feature photography; and Coonrod in advertising design, yearbook design and yearbook sports writing.
