Bridge safety was on the minds of the Ellsworth County Commissioners Monday as approval was given to temporarily close Bridge No. 13 on 16th Street in Wilson Township due to safety concerns and further considerations.

In other business:

• Approval was given to buy a 2021 John Deere 772GT motor grader with 700 hours for $350,000 from Murphy Tractor, Great Bend, and to sell the county’s John Deere 770G once the 772GT is available in October. The funds to cover the cost will be taken out of the Road and Bridge Equipment Fund.

• No action was taken after two executive sessions to discuss nonelected personnel (contract) with Ellsworth County Emergency Management Director Keith Haberer lasting a total of 25 minutes.

The next meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the county courthouse.
