Glaser named to ECMC board

Curt Glaser was appointed as a new member of the Ellsworth County Medical Center board of directors Tuesday during the weekly meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission.

Glaser succeeds Stacie Schmidt, who had to resign her position on the board because she was hired as the hospital’s new human resources director.

In other business:

• Connie Terry was approved to serve another term on the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging board of directors.

• Shawn McGowan and County EMS Director Nathan Florian were reappointed special deputy coroners for the county.

• A $7,572.54 bill from LockIT Technologies LLC for managed services for August was approved to be paid from the Local Assistance Tribal Consistency Fund.

• Approval was given to Resolution 2024-R08, participating in the 2024 Rural Opportunity Zone program.

• Commissioners discussed the ARC Bridge 13, which is the bridge in the north city limits of Wilson off K-232 Highway. The county will look at other options for the bridge.

• Commissioners signed a supplemental agreement for the county signage program through the Kansas Department of Transportation.

• Approval was given to pay a bill from Hilbuilt of Benton, Ark., for the purchase of a new dump truck for the road and bridge department in the amount of $80,052. The cost includes delivering the truck to Ellsworth.

• Approval was given to the purchase of a Lenovo computer for the road and bridge department for $944 to include labor for installation.

The computer will be purchased through LockIT Technologies.

• Approval was given to the EMS department to purchase three electronic stair chairs from Striker at a cost of $45,972.54 from a grant from the Patton Family Foundation of Kansas City, Mo.

• Approval was given to pay a $2,200.17 estimate from Randy’s Body Shop to repair the fender damage to an ambulance after a deer hit it.

• No action was taken after a 5-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel with Florian, to discuss an employee health matter.

The next meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the county courthouse.
