I-70 bridge replacements in Ellsworth County begin March 10

By

special to the i-R

On Monday, March 10, the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work to replace two I-70 bridges in Ellsworth County. The bridges are located on westbound and eastbound I-70 over Elkhorn Creek, about one-quarter mile northeast of K-156.

During construction, I-70 traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone while the K-156 eastbound on ramp to I-70 is closed.

Bridges Inc., Newton, is the prime contractor of the $6.1 million project to replace both bridges. Work is scheduled to be complete by December, weather permitting.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive. gov or call 5-1-1.
