INA alert to review courthouse security

By
Alan Rusch

As Christmas grows nearer, one of the major parts of the holiday is planning a family meal.

It is no different for the employees at the Ellsworth County Courthouse.

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission, a request by Deputy County Register of Deeds Melissa Taylor was approved.

The courthouse will be closed from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, so county employees can share a potluck holiday meal together.

In other business:

• Commissioners discussed courthouse security with representatives from INA Alert, Ellinwood. INA will perform an overall assessment of security at the courthouse and make recommendations for strengthening security there.

• Approval was given to the City of Ellsworth to dump construction debris at the county landfill. The cost of the dumping is not to exceed the $1,500 annual wavier fee.

• County Emergency Management Director Keith Haberer was appointed to the North Central Regional Homeland Security Council for the 2024-26 term.

The next meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the county courthouse.
