USD 112 BOE member resigns

By
Mike Gilmore

CLAFLIN — The Claflin Board of Education unanimously, among members present, accepted the resignation of board member Roger E. Robinson at its regular meeting Dec. 11.

With the resignation, the board also discussed the schedule of public notices to be published in the board’s newspaper of record related to the vacancy created in the District 2 seat, in regard to a state statute governing the vacancy and a published call for letters of interest, as well as and procedure to fill the position.

Discussion regarding a timeline for filling the vacancy centered on the publication intervals involved in publishing the public notices. According to K.S.A. 25-2022, the vacant board seat may not be filled sooner than 15 days following the vacancy notice.

The statute also requires applicants for the vacant seat be residents of the member district.

Robinson’s term was to expire on Jan. 12, 2026.
