WILSON — A request for annual chip seal work was approved at Monday’s meeting of the Wilson City Council.

The council approved a bid from Vance Brothers (formerly Circle C) in an amount not to exceed $138,000. The area to be chip sealed is the south end of Wilson plus Avenue D from 21st to 22nd streets and Avenue C from 24th to 25th streets.

• City Clerk Susan Kriley noted a review of the new floodplain zones will take place at 6 p.m. May 18 at the Wilson fire station.

• The Spring and Fall Craft Fair Fest, the Paper Moon event, the Wilson Czech Opera House Flea Market and the Wilson After Harvest Czech Festival were all approved as city-santioned events going forward until further notice.

• Approval was given to have brake work done on Wilson Fire Department Truck No. 555 by Larry’s Auto Repair in an amount not to exceed $1,600.

• Approval was given to inspect, as per an order by the fire chief, the standard duration breathing apparatus oxygen tanks used by the Wilson Fire Department at a cost of $725.59. The inspection will be done by Emergency Fire Equipment.
