The Ellsworth boys’ varsity tennis team took third place out of nine teams at the 321A Regional Tennis Meet at home May 2-3 and advanced senior Brendan Anderson to the state contest. Anderson also reached a career milestone as he won his 100th game.

“The guys really played well and even though we did not qualify as many for the state tennis meet as we hoped for,” Head Coach Eric Anderson said. “They all played pretty well and had their chances.”

Brendan Anderson finish 3-1 in third place and will compete at the 321A State Tennis Meet May 10-11 in Kansas City. It will be Anderson’s fourth trip to state.

He also achieved a career milestone in his last match May 3, earning his 100th career victory, all at the No. 1 varsity level — no JV, no No. 2 matches — bringing his career record that day to 100-23. All 23 of his losses were to players who qualified for the state tennis meet.

“Brendan played extremely well both Thursday and Friday,” Eric Anderson said. “He was really motivated and came out each match with something to prove.”
