Bourbon and Anderson take first place in No. 1 doubles; Togersen takes second place in No. 1 singlesLARNED — The Bearcat tennis team finished in second place overall at the Larned Meet April 28. The meet was originally scheduled for April 25, but was rescheduled due to anticipated storms.

LITTLE RIVER — The Bearcats struggled to score runs and found it difficult to contain the Redskins defensively on the road April 28. The Cats had a difficult night as they were defeated in both games.Junior Ben Hipp was on the mound for the Bearcats.

Bearcat track members finish in top six

BELOIT — On April 28, the Bearcat track and field team headed to their biggest meet of the year, an all-day competition that included 1A-4A schools — the annual Beloit Relays.Overall, conditions were not optimal.

Bearcat tennis ties Central Plains for first

CLAFLIN — On April 18, the Ellsworth Bearcat varsity boys’ tennis team traveled to Central Plains for a quad tournament. They tied for first place with Central Plains, earning 22 points. The No. 1 doubles team of junior Brendan Anderson and senior Chase Bourbon contributed 9 of those points.

Ellsworth baseball finishes game with 15-0 win

MINNEAPOLIS — The Bearcats traveled back to Minneapolis April 21 to finish their second game against the Lions which was postponed due to lightning April 14.The game resumed in the top of the third inning with bases loaded and one out with the Cats up 11-0.

Bearcat softball has winning streak

In a five-game week, the Bearcat softball team took home four victories. They started the week playing Sacred Heart April 18, beating the Knights 19-4 in both games.They finished the Minneapolis game that had been postponed April 14 due to lightning, and lost 8-7.

Wilson espouses ‘never give up’ philosophy

The 63rd annual Wilson High School Invitational Track Meet uttered its swan song April 18, relinquishing its unofficial title of the “Oldest Continuous High School Track Meet West of the Mississippi.”It will be missed.

Ellsworth girls take home gold On April 21, the Ellsworth track and field team headed to the Sterling Relays for their fourth meet of the season.Two Ellsworth girls took home gold. Freshman Kate Rathbun had a personal best running two miles in 14:35.
