‘Wait time’ at clinic is a ECMC concern
Ellsworth County Medical Center chief executive officer Andrew Bair discussed a topic at the April 17 meeting of the hospital board of directors that many rural health clinic patients are already aware of — the growing wait time to see a provider.
“Trying to get into our clinics is taking a lot longer,” he said. “Say you want to get in and see Dr. Slomka. Usually it takes a couple of days — now the scheduling is getting further and further out.”
Why the wait? According to Bair, it’s a combination of things — first, medical providers taking scheduled days off during the week and, second, the loss of an advanced practice clinician.
