Lady ‘Cats fight to the end

The Lady Bearcats started off strong Friday night in their home game against Southeast of Saline.

However, the end didn’t match the beginning and Ellsworth ended the night with a 48-32 loss.

Lakyn Tenbrink grabbed the tip-off to take the offensive, and scored the first points of the night.

The Trojans fought back; the Bearcats fought harder. The Lady ‘Cats pulled off an amazing steal and Maggie Windholz drilled the ball to score again for Ellsworth.

Southeast then scored their first point from a free throw. The first quarter ends with a score of 11-8 in favor of Southeast.

Neither team seemed to make much headway in the second quarter because they were so evenly matched.

The score at halftime was 14-10 Southeast.

The Trojans made their move at the start of the second half. The Lady ‘Cats dug in but slipped and the Trojans grabbed the offense. Third quarter ended with Southeast in the lead 26-17.

As the clock reads two minutes left, the score is 39-30 with the Trojans still ahead. The Cats fight valiantly to the end. The Trojans inch away as the buzzer looms nearer. The buzzer sounds making the final score 48-32, with the Trojans taking home the win.

Savannah Hellebust was the top scorer with 8. Maggie Windholz followed with 7. Lakyn Tenbrink and Jaide Talbott both scored 6. Makenzie Stroede scored 4. Natalie Rolfs scored 1 point.
