Bearcats first at Amos Morris Tourney in Russell

Lady Bearcats place seventh by defeating the Russell Broncos

Coach Brett Rolfs and his Ellsworth Jr./Sr. High School Bearcat boys’ basketball team finished first Dec. 10 in the Amos Morris Classic Basketball Tournament in Russell, after beating the host team, the Russell Broncos, 55-44.

Will Cravens was the high scorer for the Bearcats with 29 points, followed by Riley Stone with 10, Isaac Lindsley with 6, Layton Leiker with 5, Lane Rolfs with 3 and Cooper McGowan with 2.

In the semi-finals Dec. 9, the Bearcats defeated Sylvan-Lucas 58-47. Cravens was again the high scorer for Ellsworth with 24 points, followed by Stone with 19, Rolfs with 8, Leiker with 4 and Cade Gwinner with 3.

In the first round of the tournament Dec. 6, Ellsworth defeated Phillipsburg 56-34. Cravens had 35 points, followed by Rolfs, Gwinner and Stone each with 6 and McGowan with 2.

According to Coach Rolfs, Cravens and Stone made the All-Tournament Team.

Lady Bearcats action

The Ellsworth High School Lady Bearcats placed seventh in the Amos Morris Classic basketball tournament Dec. 10 by defeating Russell 50-19.

Lainey Peschka scored 12 points.

In the opening game, Phillipsburg defeated Ellsworth 70-44, In the second round, Sylvan-Lucas defeated the Lady Bearcats 63-62.
