Grain prices vary for the week

Prices paid for grain at the Ellsworth Co-op at the end of the business day, Monday, April 8, were: Wheat, bu. — $4.07, up 2 cents. Milo, bu. — $2.90, down 2 cents. Soybeans, bu. — $7.76 up 3 cents. Corn, bu. — $3.30, down 2 cents. The co-op has locations in Ellsworth, Black Wolf, Farhman, Hitschmann, Holyrood and Kanopolis.

Auxiliary announces scholarship

The ECMC Hospital Auxiliary has long been supportive of students entering the medical field through their generous scholarships.

The auxiliary’s educational scholarship program is making scholarships available to Ellsworth County students seeking an initial certification or licensure for a career in the medical field.

If currently enrolled or accepted into a school in order to obtain education for a career in healthcare and interested in applying for the scholarship, contact the auxiliary through Beth at Ellsworth County Medical Center (785) 472-5028 ext. 328.

The deadline for returning the application with completed forms is May 1.

USDA Census of Agriculture

The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will release the 2017 Census of Agriculture results at 11 a.m. today (Thursday, April 11). The full Census report will include millions of data points, including number of farms, land in farms, total value of production, demographics, and more at the national, state, and county levels.

The report, along with a number of related publications, video presentations, and searchable data query interfaces, will be available on the NASS website at www.nass.usda.gov

The report will include new information on military service, food marketing practices, and on-farm decision-making.
