Grain prices down for the week

Prices paid for grain at the Ellsworth Co-op at the end of the business day, Monday, Aug. 26, were: Wheat, bu. — $3.54, down 1 cent from Aug. 19. Milo, bu. — $2.81, down 4 cents. Soybeans, bu. — $7.42, up 5 cents. Corn, bu. — $3.29, down 6 cents. The co-op has locations in Ellsworth, Black Wolf, Farhman, Hitschmann, Holyrood and Kanopolis.

Kanopolis Council approves bids

The Kanopolis City Council conducted a 10-minute special meeting Aug. 21 to select bids for the insurance claims to repair city-owned properties. Bids were approved as follows:

• A $9,840 bid from Geissler Roofing to complete the roof on the city shop was approved.

• A $55,391 bid from Geissler Roofing for work on the city hall roof was approved.

• A $27,000 bid from Roofmasters for work at the Kanopolis City Library was approved. Mayor Anthony Hopkins said he will need more time to review the remaining city buildings and will discuss the matter at the next city council meeting in September. He asked the city crew to install Flex Seal on the roof at city hall to prevent future leaking.
