Grain prices up for the week

Prices paid for grain at the Ellsworth Co-op at the end of the business day, Friday, Aug. 30, were:

Wheat, bu. — $3.55, up 1 cent from Aug. 26. Milo, bu. — $3.03, up 22 cents. Soybeans, bu. — $7.43, up 1 cent. Corn, bu. — $3.39, up 10 cents.

The co-op has locations in Ellsworth, Black Wolf, Farhman, Hitschmann, Holyrood and Kanopolis.

Life Line to offer screenings

Ellsworth area residents can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other chronic, serious conditions with screenings by Life Line Screening. Ellsworth’s St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 911 N. Kansas Ave., will host this community event Oct. 11. Screenings can check for:

• The level of plaque buildup in your arteries, related to risk for heart disease, stroke and overall vascular health.

• HDL and LDL Cholesterol levels

• Diabetes risk

• Bone density as a risk for possible osteoporosis

• Kidney and thyroid function, and more Screenings are affordable, convenient and accessible for wheelchairs and those with trouble walking. Free parking is also available. Packages start at $149, but consultants will work with participants to create a package that is right for them based on age and risk factors. Also ask about our Wellness Gold Membership Program with allows customers to get all the screenings they need now, but pay $19.95 a month.
