Grain prices mixed for the week
Prices paid for grain at the Ellsworth Co-op at the end of the business day, Monday, Sept. 30, were:
Wheat, bu. — $3.73, up 8 cents from Sept. 23. Milo, bu. — $3.23, up 15 cents. Soybeans, bu. — $7.81, up 13 cents. Corn, bu. — $3.58, up 15 cents.
The co-op has locations in Ellsworth, Black Wolf, Farhman, Hitschmann, Holyrood and Kanopolis.
Screening of Fort Harker movie set
The Ellsworth County Historical Society is sponsoring a free screening of the documentary Fort Harker: Gateway Post of the Frontier at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School Performing Arts Center. The public is invited to attend.
Bushton Parish plans annual dinner
Holy Name Catholic Church of Bushton will host its annual Fall Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Bushton Community Center on the north side of Bushton. The roast beef dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This year’s event also will include a traditional raffle with more than 50 items and featuring a queen-size quilt as the grand prize, plus a special children’s raffle featuring a boy’s and girl’s gift basket as the grand prize. In addition, there will be a cake wheel and numerous children’s games. Cost of the meal, including a salad bar and pie, is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 – 12, and free for those ages 5 and younger.
St. Joseph Church plans Bazaar
St. Joseph’s Church of Dorrance hosts its annual Bazaar and dinner Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Wilson Catholic Parish Hall in Wilson. On the menu from 5 to 7 p.m. is a turkey and dressing dinner including homemade pie and drinks. Games and a cake wheel start at 5:30 p.m. and Bingo, with a variety of prizes, starts at 7 p.m. Drawing tickets for money and other prizes can be purchased from any parish member, or may be purchased at the event.
