Geneseo City Museum Open House

The Geneseo City Museum, founded by Dr. E. D. Janzen, is having a special open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7.

Photographs and artifacts plus over 8,000 Geneseo related slides make this one of the most extensive collections found for a Kansas community of less than

300. Janzen taught braille and was a minister, ventriloquist, naturopath, and chiropractor.

Janzen’s many interests included a compilation of flying saucer and alien material from the iconic era of the late 1940s to the 1970s. The collection includes drawings of various kinds of alien spacecraft as well as accounts of travel aboard flying saucers to other planets.

It was a time of wonder when all the world wondered what was out there beyond the arc of earth’s atmosphere. Janzen left a unique record of the era of the flying saucer, as well as an extensive collection of yesteryear.

The museum is located two blocks west of Main Street at 907 Silver Ave. in Geneseo.
