Insurance group recognizes Wilborn
The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies has named Sen. Rick Wilborn, R-Kan., as the association’s State Legislator of the Year.
An association spokesman said Wilborn of McPherson was chosen for the honor because of his promotion and protection of competitive insurance markets.
Wilborn’s district includes Ellsworth County. He shares the association honor with Sen. Doug Broxson, R-Fla.
Wilborn was selected for his efforts to pass the association’s resiliency resolution in Kansas. The resolution is part of a national legislative campaign to educate Americans on the importance of building stronger, resilient communities in preparation for natural disasters.
“Sen. Wilborn’s leadership has been critical to securing passage of a number of bills important to consumers who purchase property/casualty insurance,” the association spokesman said.“And his support of freemarket principles has helped enhance the strength and availability market in Kansas.”
Insurance document approved
At Monday’s brief, hour-long meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners, a statement and proof of loss was signed and will be returned to Kansas County Association Multi-Peril (KCAMP), the county’s insurance carrier, as part of filing a claim for hail damage to county buildings during a June 21 hailstorm.
The document is used for replacement cost coverage.
Commissioners tabled discussion on the need to find a person to serve as the county’s representative on the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging board of directors.
The council also approved the October payroll of $230,609.71.
