Wilson Winners 4-H

The Wilson Winners 4-H Club had its monthly meeting Aug. 18 at the Wilson Senior Center. Roll call was answered by a favorite summer memory. There were 14 members, six Cloverbuds and three leaders present.

Following the business meeting, Garrett Thielen gave a talk about the Leadership project. Anna Thielen demonstrated how to make simple dog toys. Lauren Brokes explained the 4-H system of judging and the significance of each ribbon color. Recreation leader Eli Brokes led a game of “Telephone” and song leader Molly Ehrlich led members in singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Wilson Senior Center.

Dorrance FCE

The Dorrance Homemakers FCE met Aug. 6 at Expressor in Woelks in Russell.

After the Flag Salute and KATCE Creed, roll call was answered by Joyce Langhofer saying she had 16 hours, 20 minutes exercise, her favorite snack is popcorn and a joke. Jan Bachar listed 20 hours exercise, her favorite snack is dark chocolate, and a joke. Allison Voos listed 40 hours exercise, favorite snack is party mix and a joke.

The minutes were read by Allison and approved; Joyce gave the treasurer’s report. There were no bills.

The following were reported: books read — Joyce, 4, Allison, 5 and Jan 18 magazines; Joyce and Allison recycled four bags and Jan 10. Stamps and tabs turned in by Joyce and Jan; coupons turned in by Joyce and Allison. Volunteer hours reported were Joyce 12 hours, 45 minutes; and Allison, four hours.

There will be a FCE meeting Sept. 18 at Wadby’s with a cost of $10.

The next meeting is Sept. 24, where Joyce will give the lesson “Everyday Mindfulness”.

The Dorrance Homakers FCE met July 9 at Expresso in Russell.

Roll call was answered by Joyce Langhofer with 13 hours exercise, a joke and asparagus as a healthy food. Allison Voos gave 40 hours exercise, a joke and also asparagus as a health food.

The minutes were read by Allison and were approved.

Both Joyce and Allison read three books; Joyce recycled 15 bags with Allison two; Joyce turned in stamps and coupons; Allison turned in tabs. For volunteer hours, Joyce reported 15 hours, 36 minutes and Aliison four hours.

The Birthday Bank was held, with Joyce calling.

One hour and 19 minutes was spent on the lesson “Choose Wisely: For Health and Wealth” by Allison.

The next meeting is Aug. 6.
