NON-INJURY ACCIDENTS — At 7:08 a.m. March 20, Derena I. Huck, 37, Ellsworth, was driving west on Old 40 Highway in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Just east of 13th Road she hit a deer. Neither Huck nor her passengers, Paul P. Childers Jr., 48, Tulsa, Okla.; Blake A. Sitzman, 18, Ellsworth; James I. Huck, 15, Ellsworth; and Malachi Huck, 13, Ellsworth, were injured. At 6:20 a.m. March 26, Kathryn D. Dauer, 62, Lindsborg, was driving west on K-4 Highway in a 2013 Chrysler. Just inside the county line west of 31st Road, she hit a deer. No injuries were reported. ABANDONED VEHICLE TOWED — On March 3, deputies towed an abandoned vehicle left at Old 40 and Ninth Road in Black Wolf Township. CRIMINAL THREAT — On March 18, deputies investigated a report of a criminal threat at 736 12th Road in Ellsworth. The threat was discovered to be unfounded. There were no arrests. AGENCY ASSISTS — On March 20, deputies assisted the Wilson Fire Department with fighting a vehicle fire at 3108 Ave. F in Wilson. Damaged was a 1982 Ford. Damage was estimated to be $1,000. On March 22, deputies responded to milepost 166 on K-156 Highway to assist the Salina Police Department with a vehicle chase into Ellsworth County. The deputy deployed stop sticks. The subject was arrested and returned to Saline County.
FELONY THEFT/FELONY CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY/ CRIMINAL TRESPASS — On March 21, deputies investigated a report of felony theft, felony criminal damage to property and criminal trespass at 1896 Ave. M in Kanopolis. Taken were a 2018 Kobota 1100, and a 2018 PJ utility trailer. Damaged were barbed wire fencing and a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The victim was Hi-Plains Sand of Kanopolis. Total loss was $25,000. Some of the property was recovered in Rice County. There are no suspects and no arrests have been made.

NON-INJURY ACCIDENTS — At 5:19 p.m. officers responded to a noninjury accident in the parking lot at 745 O’Donnell Drive. Pauline Zvolanek, 89, Ellsworth, was driving a 2016 Honda when she hit a light pole in the parking lot of Gene’s Heartland Foods. ARRESTS — At 5 p.m. April 2, Sara Deiser, 35, Ellsworth, was arrested at 211 West Eighth on a warrant out of Ellsworth County District Court for making false information and theft. She was booked into the Ellsworth County Jail.

INTERFERENCE WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT/UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — State of Kansas vs. Garritt Ward Kent McConnell, interference with law enforcement/unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. McConnell pleaded no contest to both counts. All other charges were dismissed with prejudice. He was ordered to serve 180 days in the Ellsworth County Jail, suspended. The suspended sentence is contingent upon completion of a six month period of unsupervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a $158 docket fee, a $45 booking fee, and $500 in fines. FLEEING OR ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE A POLICE OFFICER/ UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE — State of Kansas vs. Alec Micah Wallace, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer/unlawful possession of a controlled substance. All other charges were dismissed. He was ordered to serve 180 days in jail with credit for one day served and the remaining 179 days suspended. The suspended sentence is contingent upon completion of a 12 month period of unsupervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a $158 docket fee, a $45 booking fee, and $350 in fines. FOUND PROPERTY — On March 24, a deputy found various drugs on the side of the road at 800 17th Road in Ellsworth County. VEHICLE BURGLARY — Between March 24 and March 25, deputies investigated a burglary of a vehicle at 1886 Sixth Road in Holyrood. Taken was a Stihl chainsaw valued at $800. There are no suspects. No arrests have been made. COMPUTER, UNLAWFUL ACTS — Between March 27 and March 28, deputies investigated a computer breech at 2015 K-141 Highway in Marquette. The victim was Post Rock Rural Water District. There are no suspects. No arrests have been made. DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On April 1, deputies investigated a report of disorderly conduct at 100 County Road in Holyrood. No arrests were made. A report has been forwarded to the Ellsworth County attorney.
