District Court
DISORDERLY CONDUCT — State of Kansas vs. Terra Beth Summey, disorderly conduct. Summey pleaded no contest. All other charges were dismissed. She was ordered to serve 30 days in the Ellsworth County Jail, suspended, contingent upon payment of all fines and costs prior to completion of a 12 month period of unsupervised probation. She was also ordered to pay a $158 docket fee, a $45 booking fee and a $100 fine. INTERFERENCE WITH A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (Two Counts) — State of Kansas vs. Terra Beth Summey, interference with a law enforcement officer, two counts. Summey pleaded no contest to counts one and two of the amended complaint, each being interference with law enforcement. All other charges were dismissed with prejudice. Summey was ordered to serve 365 days in jail, with credit for 19 days served. The remaining 346 days were suspended, contingent upon successful completion of a 12 month period of supervised probation. The sentence runs consecutive to the City of Ellsworth case No. 008338. She was also ordered to pay a $158 docket fee, a $45 booking fee, $200 in fines and a $275 fee for a court appointed attorney.

INJURY ACCIDENTS — At 9:06 p.m. July 9, Deric R. Carrillo, 30, Lubbock, Texas, was driving east on K-140 Highway in a 2005 Honda Civic. Just west of 23rd Road, the Carrillo vehicle went left of center and sideswiped a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Donald R. Kempke, 65, Kanopolis. The Carrillo vehicle then hit a 2016 Honda HRV driven by Rolando M. Aguilera, 19, Salina, head-on. The Kempke vehicle pulled to the shoulder and stopped. The Aguilera vehicle spun around and came to rest in the ditch north of the roadway. The Carrillo vehicle spun around and came to rest on the roadway. Carrillo was injured in the accident and transported by Ellsworth County EMS ambulance to Salina Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Neither Kempke nor his passenger, Ellen Kempke, 60, Kanopolis, were injured. Neither Aguilera nor his passenger, Tevor K. Stuhlsatz, 19, Garden Plain, were injured. Carrillo was cited for driving under the influence, use/possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia into the human body, driving while license was cancelled/suspended/ revoked, and vehicle liability insurance coverage required. At 6:30 p.m. July 4, Jenny M. Hughes, 47, Nickerson, was driving a 2011 Polaris Ranger all-terrain vehicle on Yankee Run Road. Just west of First Street, she slid around a corner and rolled into the south ditch. The ATV flipped forward, ejecting the driver. The ATV came to rest with the front of the ATV partially on top of the driver, pinning the driver’s head. Bystanders uprighted the ATV, which was removed from the scene prior to the arrival of deputies. According to the report, alcohol contributed to the accident, however, no citations were given. The report also shows Hughes may have been injured in the accident, but there is no indication she was taken to a hospital for treatment. NON-INJURY ACCIDENTS — At 5:45 a.m. July 4, Donnie L. Reid, 57, Howard, Ark., was driving west on Interstate 70 in a 2019 Ford F-250 pickup truck. At milepost 206.5, he hit a deer. Neither Reid nor his passengers, Carla A. Reid, 55, Newhope, Ark.; Christopher C. Manning, 44, Howard Dierks, Ark.; and Rikki C. Manning, 44, Howard Dierks, Ark., were injured. At 12:45 p.m. July 12, Kevin G. Bitter, 59, Fort Mill, S.C., was driving south on K-156 Highway in a 2019 Chevrolet Impala. Just north of Ave. I, he hit a deer. No injuries were reported. At 6:43 a.m. July 16, Shirley B. Holovach, 69, Scott City, was driving east on K-4 Highway in a 2011 Honda Civic. According to a passing motorist, just east of Second Road, Holovach exited the roadway to the north. When deputies arrived, her vehicle was found resting in a creek bed having collided with the creek bed embankment. According to the report, Holovach was uninjured and disoriented. She was transported by Ellsworth County EMS to Ellsworth County Medical Center for evaluation. At 6:30 a.m. July 17, Sharon K. Holloway, 72, Wilson, was driving east on I-70 in a 1999 Ford. Just east of 12th Road, she hit a deer. Neither Holloway nor her passenger, Crystal Finke, 47, Wilson, were injured. At 5:30 p.m. July 20, Hagen J. Kuhl, 42, Gypsum, was driving east on I-70 in a 2019 Jeep. Near milepost 227, a tire was lost from a westbound vehicle. The tire traveled southwest across the median and hit the Kuhl vehicle in the front bumper/grill area. The vehicle that lost the tire left the scene before deputies arrived. It is unknown if they were aware of the damage to the Kuhl vehicle. No injuries were reported. FOUND PROPERTY — On July 1, deputies took a report of property found at 1420 Foster Road in Ellsworth belonging to Seth A. Bishop of Athens, Ga.
