Sheriff Department

OUTSIDE AGENCY ASSIST — On May 31, the K-9 unit was requested to perform a dog sniff for the Kansas Highway Patrol at milepost 227 on Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County. Seven pounds of marijuana and nine pounds of “Shatter/Wax” and containers were found. A report has been forwarded to the Ellsworth County attorney. CIVIL DISTURBANCE — At 10:06 p.m. May 31, deputies received a report of a civil disturbance at 2204 K-14 Highway in Geneseo. The incident involved a verbal disagreement and no arrests were made. CROP DUSTING SPRAY FROM AIRPLANE STRIKING A VICTIM AND AIRPLANE TOO LOW OVER HOUSE — At 1 p.m. May 31, deputies took a report of crop dusting spray from an airplane striking a person and the airplane flying too low over the house at 112 21st Road in Ellsworth. Mary Ann Frederickson of Ellsworth was the reporting party. No arrests were made. BURGLARY — On June 4, Chad E. Stratmann of Geneseo was the victim of burglary in Section 32-17-7 in Trivoli Township. Taken were hand tools, a tool box with impact wrench, two vehicle batteries, a Black and Decker Power Tool circular saw, two gallons of gasoline and a head light. Total loss was $220. There are no suspects and no arrests have been made. DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On June 6, Joshua S. Dittman of Kanopolis was the victim of disorderly conduct at 116 Missouri in Kanopolis. A report has been forwarded to the Ellsworth County attorney. THEFT – On June 7, Anthony W. Ellis of Holyrood was the victim of theft at 205 N. Pennsylvania in Holyrood. Taken was a go cart valued at $800. FOUND PROPERTY — On June 6, deputies found property belonging to Joseph M. Wilson of Stillwater, Okla.on the westbound on ramp at milepost 225 on Interstate 70. The property is a leather wallet containing an Oklahoma drivers license, a debit card, and membership cards.

Ellsworth Police

NON-INJURY ACCIDENTS — At 8:25 a.m. June 3, officers responded to a non-injury accident at Aylward and 15th Street. Michael Whitmer, 28, Ellsworth, was driving a 2004 Toyota when he rear-ended a 2003 Ford driven by Shirley Deiser, 79, Ellsworth. At 8:08 p.m. June 9, officers responded to a non-injury accident in the 500 block of Eighth Street. Hayley Sanchez, 17, Ellsworth, was driving a 2013 Toyota Tundra when she backed into a 2008 Toyota Prius owned by William Dains of Salina. At 10:19 a.m. June 6, officers responded to a non-injury accident at 11th and Grand Ave. Luke Sharp, 16, Kanopolis, was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon when he backed into a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander owned by USD

327. At 12:36 p.m. June 11, officers responded to a non-injury accident in the Ellsworth Service Center parking lot at North Main and Lincoln. Carol Sawyer, 71, Ellsworth, was driving a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country van when she backed into a 2014 Jeep Compass owned by Phyllis Demel of Kanopolis. At 11:05 a.m. June 11, officers responded to a non-injury accident at K-156 Highway and Third Street. Grant Gwinner, 18, Ellsworth, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Impala when he hit a deer. ARRESTS — At 1:30 p.m. June 4, a 39-year-old Ellsworth woman was arrested in the 800 block of Eighth Street for driving while suspended, second offense, and for having a defective mirror. She was booked into the Ellsworth County Jail. At 2:45 p.m. June 4, a 21-year-old Wichita man was arrested in the 100 block of W. North Main for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and a stop sign violation. He was booked into the Ellsworth County Jail.

District Court

MARRIAGE LICENSES — Callie Cunningham, Ellsworth, and Kevin Haxton, Ellsworth. Bruce Bourne, Ellsworth, and Leah Watts, Ellsworth. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE — State of Kansas vs. Caleb Johnson, unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Johnson pleaded no contest to count one of the complaint, unlawful possession of a controlled substance. All other charges were dismissed. Johnson was ordered to pay a $158 docket fee, a $45 booking fee, a $500 fine and $275 in court appointed attorney’s fees. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — State of Kansas vs. Nicholas Mark Boyle, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Boyle pleaded guilty to count one of the complaint, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. All other charges were dismissed. Boyle was ordered to serve 180 days in the Ellsworth County Jail. He shall serve six days with credit for six days served. The remaining 174 days will be suspended, contingent upon successful completion of a six month unsupervised probation period. He was also ordered to pay a $158 docket fee, a $45 booking fee, and a $100 fine.
