U.S. Senate candidate Nancy Boyda and First Congressional District Candidate Kali Barnett will be the featured speakers Thursday, Sept. 26, at the first ever “Fall Forum” hosted by Ellsworth County Democrats.

Other candidates also have been invited to attend.

The event will be at the High Jinks Rec Club at 301 W. N. Main in Ellsworth, with a “meet and greet” starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by candidate presentations at 7 p.m. The public is welcome regardless of political affiliation.

“There’s a lot of excitement about the Senate and 1st district races, and with a full year to go, Ellsworth will have a chance to really spend some quality time with these candidates.” event organizer Patrick Hoffman said.

There also will be information presented about the 2020 Democratic Primary, which will offer ‘ranked choice voting’ for the first time ever. Instead of a caucus, the Democratic Primary will be by written ballot, with advanced voting available to increase turnout and convenience. Voters will be able to vote for multiple candidates by ranking their choices for the first time ever.

“The Republican’s have cancelled their primary and the Democrats are offering this innovative new voting option. Anyone who joins the Democratic party by the day of the primary can participate,” Hoffman said.
