Biking Across Kansas traveled through Dorrance June 11 and several community children set up a lemonade stand in the Dorrance City Park near the recently added Veterans Memorial. From their proceeds, the group presented $500 to Bob Boatright, Dorrance mayor, to be used to complete landscaping around the memorial. The children provided lemonade, water, and cookies to the bicyclists en route to their evening stop in Wilson. More than 800 traveled through Dorrance with many stopping to visit the Veterans Memorial and the lemonade stand.
