Ellsworth City
Contractor selected for taxiway work
Reconstruction of the taxiway at the Ellsworth Airport took one more step forward Monday as the Ellsworth City Council approved a $257,859 bid from Vogts Parga Construction LLC of Newton for the work.
The bid is contingent on receipt of funding by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Brad Waller of Benesch and Company Engineers said the total cost of the taxiway project is $373,000, with the City of Ellsworth responsible for 10 percent and the FFA responsible for the other 90 percent. Waller said as soon as the United States Congress authorizes funding for the project, which usually occurs in July, work on the taxiway could begin in September or October. The project is expected to take a month to complete.
