It’s beginning to feel a lot like fall. I don’t care for the cold but I do love the sights, smells and the feel that comes with fall. It’s a cozy feeling and what goes better with cozy then a good book and a cup of hot cocoa? You just can’t go wrong — and — I have just the place for you to find the perfect book. A wonderful place called the J.H. Robbins Memorial Library! They have coffee as well. So you can curl up in front of the fireplace. Life is good!

As of Oct. 1, we have Ancestry.com. I am still not up on it, so if you come in to try it, please bear with us as we are still learning.

The Recipe Club had its first get together Sept. 19; we had 10 people and a wide range of different types of good food. I think everyone had a good time and plenty to eat. From the amount of interest we’ve had in the cookbooks we have available at this time, we should have a good turnout Oct. 17.

I love the wide range of programs that we do at the library, from witching graves to recipe clubs, but I would love to have your input on what you would like to see.

Talking about programs, make sure you stop in and check out the new floor in the community room. It looks great and will be assessable for a wider range of programs. Carpet limited us on how we or the public could use the room. So please, when you come in, make sure to ask to see it — we’d love to show you. We’d also love to reserve for you a place to rent for a meeting, get-together, baby or wedding shower, or anything else you might need it for.

Let’s see what is going on for the rest of the month: Oct. 20 is the Page Turner Book Club. We are reading “Hillbilly Elegy” by J.D. Vance. Next month will be a Christmas book since we take the month of December off.

The Last Wednesday Walk is ... can you guess when? The last Wednesday of the month. Hopefully it will be a nice fall day and not freezing. We can all dream; come join us. No matter what, we’d love to see you walking the path at Krizek Park sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Now let me tell you about the exciting thing we have happening in November. On Nov. 7, The Goodwill LearnIT Digital Skills Classroom will be coming to the library! What is that, you say? It is a partnership between Goodwill and Google and it is free. It is a mobile lab that features 10 computer stations. Classes are available to the public, but it is limited, so you will need to get to the library to sign up. There will be three classes during the day, starting at 9:30 a.m. We will have a class on basic computer skills (typing, mouse skills, and operations), one on exploring your google account/google apps., and Microsoft Word. The program is for individuals of all skill levels. It can be folks who have never turned on a computer, all the way to folks who are looking to up-skill and advance in their fields. The classes are taught by a Microsoft Office certified instructor. We are very excited about it and will participate in the classes. You can never stop learning. For more information and times, come talk to us.

Our Featured Film will be at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 6. We will be showing a Thanksgiving movie and will have popcorn.

This article is getting way too long, so you are just going to have to come see the new books for yourself this time, and when you’re here don’t forget about the fireplace and coffee.

Happy Reading!
