Kanopolis is still closed
Kanopolis State Park continues to be closed because of flooding; however, officials with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism say they expect to have all utility campgrounds open July 2.
Lake and road access continue to be affected.
According to the park website:
“We may still have swim beach, boat ramps, courtesy docks, some primitive campgrounds, and horse and hiking trails closed during the 4th of July weekend. Marina will have the store open, but docks still will not be accessible during the holiday weekend.”
To the west, the state park at Wilson Lake is open, as are: Indian Grass primitive, Lovegrass group camp, Big Bluestem sites 1-6 and 19-40, Buffalograss primitive, Hell Creek Boat ramp, Side Oats primitive, Wheatgrass (E,W), Grama (E), Switchgrass mountain bike trail, Marina, Dropseed (E, seasonal camp), Marina Cove Toadstools.
Closed by water are: all of Otoe is closed including the four cabins, Hell Creek, Lower Switchgrass primitive camping area, swim beach and kids pond, Little Bluestem primitive area and sites 8-16 in Big Bluestem. Birdy loop of Switchgrass Mountain bike trail and part of the marina loop are under water.
