National 4-H Week is Oct. 6-12
4-H Focus
National 4-H Week is Oct. 6-12 and the theme is,“Inspire Kids To Do!” Coinciding with National 4-H Week is 48 Hours of 4-H which is a service-related weekend for 4-H members to give back to their communities. Nothing says “Doing” like community service and civic engagement.
We have been brainstorming fun activities to spotlight 4-H during this week, including a selfie contest and window displays at local businesses in Ellsworth. Be on the lookout for 4-H members and leaders across the district as they share their time, energy, and enthusiasm.
Each 4-H year finishes with an Achievement Banquet. The events bring our 4-H families together to share fellowship and celebrate successes. Russell will host its “4-H, a Whirlwind of Fun” event Sunday, Oct. 13. Ellsworth hosts its “Get Your Game On” event in November (date to be determined).
Each event is coordinated by council committees or club volunteers and is a great time to recognize the accomplishments of our 4-H members. In particular, Achievement Pins are presented recognizing successful Kansas Award Portfolios (a project-specific, in-depth record book), Friends of 4-H and Rookie of the Year.
As we continue with the nationwide theme of “4-H Grown,” celebrating the learning and growth of 4-H members is an exciting and important part of their development into their own 4-H Grown story.
