Three ONEOK employees in Bushton, Kan., recently presented a donation to the Holyrood Fire Department in Ellsworth County.

Fire department representatives said the donation will be used to purchase new sets of bunker gear.

“Most volunteer departments can’t afford to update their gear when needed,” said Chris Montoya, supervisor, plant operations, as well as the Holyrood Fire Department’s assistant fire chief.

“They’re left to rely on outdated gear, which is typically worn pretty good. These fire departments have to piece together what they can to make sure they’re protected from the elements, and purchase a set here and there. So, when we heard ONEOK was willing to help replace some of our gear, it was truly a blessing and greatly appreciated.”

Presenting the donation to the fire department with Montoya were fellow employees and firefighters for the Holyrood Fire Department, Nick Harter, plant operations supervisor; Roger Langston, lead mechanic, who also serves as the department’s assistant fire chief; Brock Lawrence, associate plant operator; and Taylor Siemsen, associate storage operator.

“ONEOK supports the communities where it operates and its employees work and live through corporate contributions. The company’s continued commitment and effort to operate in a safe, reliable and environmentally responsible manner is a key focus for our company,” Harter said.

“In our operating areas, we proactively establish and maintain good working relationships with key community stakeholders including the organizations that respond to community needs during emergency preparedness and response efforts.”
