HOISINGTON — After their game was postponed Saturday because of snow, the Ellsworth High School girls’ basketball team was defeated by the Pratt Greenbacks, 43-30, Monday in the third place game at the Winter Jam Tournament in Hoisington.

Scoring for the Bearcat girls team were Elyse Haxton with 9, Kylan Turnipseed with 5, Rylan Ohl with 4, Lainey Peschka and Peyton Coonrod each with 3, Ryan Tenbrink and Paityn Tenbrink each with 2 and Isabelle Lindsley with 1.

In the first round of the tournament, Ellsworth defeated the Cougars of Otis-Bison 44-14. Leading the scoring for Ellsworth was Peschka with 18 points, followed by Lindsley with 6, Turnipseed, Haxton and Tenbrink each with 5 points, Coonrod with 4 and Ohl with 1.

On Jan. 20, the Bearcat girls were defeated by the Hoisington Cardinals 25-23.

Scoring for Ellsworth was Greta Klein with 12 points, Peschka with 5, Haxton, Lindsley and Lexi West each with 2.
