Salina Youth Symphony to present spring concert
The talent of more than 150 young area musicians will be on display at the Salina Youth Symphony Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the Stiefel Theatre.
The concert will feature members of the Salina Youth Symphony, Junior Youth Symphony and Preparatory Orchestra.
Single admission is $17 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the Stiefel Theatre Box Office, 151 S. Santa Fe, from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, by calling (785) 827-1998 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
The Salina Youth Symphony features a full orchestra of advanced string, wind, brass and percussion musicians under the under the direction of Ken Hakoda.
Director Hakoda is a former Ellsworth music teacher who now teaches at Salina’s Kansas Wesleyan University.
The Junior Youth Symphony is full intermediate orchestra performing under the baton of Henry Littich.
The Preparatory Orchestra, a beginning string orchestra, will be conducted by interim director Michael Harbaugh.
The Salina Youth Choir will join the Salina Chorale for a Spring Concert to at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at the Stiefel Theatre.
Tickets are $10 for adults (no charge for students) and may be purchased at the door.
The Salina Youth Choir features 56 members under the direction of Jenna Eshleman. Eshleman is an Ellsworth High school graduate.
