Students chosen for Kansas Honors
Eight local and area students are among those chosen for the Kansas Honor Scholar Program, a long-standing tradition of the University of Kansas Alumni Association and KU Endowment. More than 3,600 high school seniors throughout Kansas are being recognized for their academic excellence and achievement. Ellsworth High School — Cody Bourbon, Jordyn Coonrod and Hayden Rogers. Wilson High School — Brandalyn Thyfault. Central Plains High School — Jerred Bieberle, Addison Crites, Delaney Rugan and Emily Ryan. Since 1971 the program has honored more than 140,000 high school seniors — from all 105 Kansas counties and approximately 360 high schools — for ranking academically in the top 10 percent of their class. The program is made possible by KU Endowment, alumni donations and proceeds from the Alumni Association’s Jayhawk license plate program, and allows the University and the Alumni Association to create more scholarship opportunities for Kansas students.
Advance degrees awarded
Two from Ellsworth County were among the 725 graduates this summer from the University of Kansas. Clint Mathew Rogers of Ellsworth received a Master of Business Administration Martin Hochman V. of Lorraine was awarded a Master of Social Work.
Barton names summer students
Three Ellsworth residents and one from Bushton have
earned associate degrees or certificates for career training during the summer semester of 2019 at Barton Community College. Ellsworth students are: Tony Hunt, Momodou Jallow and David Marcus, who all earned A.G.S. From Bushton is Rosa Vasquez who received a pharmacy technician certificate.
