HOLYROOD — No action was taken at the Sept. 16 meeting of the Holyrood City Council after an executive session to discuss non-elected personnel.

In other business:

• According to Stephanie Petermann, city clerk, Ordinances 617 and 618, regarding the standard traffic and uniform public office code for 2019, were approved.

From the Sept. 3 meeting:

• Ordinances 615 and 616 were approved, regarding water and electrical rates. As of Oct. 1 all water rates (for both residential and commercial users in Holyrood) will increase $1 from $27.50 per 3,000 gallons of water used to $28.50 per 3,000 gallons used.

In addition, Holyrood water customers will see a 10 cent increase for every 750 gallons used after the first 3,000 gallons — from the current $1.10 to $1.20.

Also effective Oct. 1, electrical rates will go from 3.5 cents above what the Kansas Power Pool charges the City of Holyrood per kilowatt to 4 cents above what KPP charges the city.

For small power customers — those with a 3 phase electrical system such as the city sewer plant — the fee increases 1 cent, from 3.5 cents above what KPP charges the city to 4.5 cents above what KPP charges the city.

For grocery customers there is no increase. The amount will stay at one cent less per kilowatt than what the residential customers pay.

In other business:

• A $2,000 payment to the Department of Agriculture because water wells were overpumped was approved. Petermann said each water well is granted a usage permit. Water usage was over what the permit called for.

The Sept. 16 information came from the minutes of city clerk Stephanie Petermann. They are subject to council approval at its Oct. 7 meeting.
