WILSON — A Wilson High School science teacher is facing two criminal charges after being arrested Sept. 20 at the school.

According to Ellsworth County Sheriff Murray Marston, Julie Hays bonded out of jail the same day she was arrested. The Ellsworth County Clerk of the District Court’s office confirmed to the Independent-Reporter Monday that Hays faces one count of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated endangering of a child. She is being represented by Manhattan attorney Barry Clark. No court date has been set.

Central Plains USD 112 superintendent Greg Clark told the I-R Friday he was advised by an attorney with the Kansas Association of School Boards not to comment on the matter.
