Marlin Leon Sittner (1936-2024)

Marlin Leon Sittner, 88, of Bushton, Kan., passed away Feb. 17, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kan. He was born Jan. 4, 1936, in rural Bushton, the son of Max and Myrtle (Weinhold) Sittner.

Marlin was a lifelong Bushton resident. He graduated from Bushton High School with the class of 1953 and later attended McPherson College. Marlin served in the Air National Guard from 1958-1968. He was a farmer and stockman. Marlin served on the B.C.D.I. Building Board, R.C.C.A Board, Ark Valley Electric Co-op Association Board, Farmer Township Board and Farmer’s Co-op Board. He was an active member of the Salem Church, Bushton.

On Nov. 24, 1957, Marlin was united in marriage with Doris Jeane Shively at Salem Church.

He is survived by his wife Jeane Sittner, Bushton; four children, Kimberly Ann Stewart and husband Phil, Bushton; Roxanna Lynn Habiger and husband Raymond, Bushton; Annette Marie Borntrager and husband Dave, Haven, Kan., and Jeffry David Sittner and wife Deanna, Tonganoxie, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Larry Dean Sittner.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at the Salem Church, rural Bushton, with Pastor Tom Reazin officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Friedhof Cemetery, rural Bushton.

Following the service there will be a luncheon reception at the BCDI Building, Bushton. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Salem Church or B.C.D.I. Building in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
