Good sportsmanship in Wilson
On Sept. 1, Wilson hosted high school volleyball
against Chase, Natoma and Central Plains. The next
morning we received two emails, one from an officiant
and one from a KSHSAA representative.
They read as follows:
“I just wanted to say that I had one of the best ever
nights of officiating tonight. Part of that was because I
was working with a great partner and the other reason
is the boys from Wilson. They cheered FOR their
girls, not against the other team. When I was R1, during
timeouts, they would ask for explanations of calls/
rules instead of arguing about calls. They were super
nice and they had fun, which in turn made it fun for
me! The fans/parents were great too! I never heard
one rude comment or yelling over missed calls. It was
such a pleasure officiating there tonight!”
From KSHSAA:
“I wanted to thank you for providing such a positive
experience for the players, coaches, officials and fans.
We could definitely use more schools like Wilson to
help turn the tide of sportsmanship. I hope you let
your students know that their positive actions were
noticed and to keep up the good work!”
I just thought this positivity needed to be in the
paper. I think these comments speak volumes for
Wilson!!
Thank You
