Summer food program volunteers deserve recognition
Several weeks ago, the Ellsworth County Independent-Reporter featured a story on Page A1 about the summer meal program that serves Wilson, Ellsworth, Kanopolis and other Central Kansas communities by providing free lunches to more than 400 children and volunteers.
During an interview with the program’s director, Lynn Kasper, we were told again and again about the dedication and hard work that goes into the program from its many volunteers.
“Our volunteers are absolutely wonderful. Please say that 10 times in your article if not more,” Kasper said.
Between our earlier feature story and today’s editorial, we’ve said it twice. Your turn. Please thank these volunteers who devote their time and energy to the children of Ellsworth County and Central Kansas.
There would be no summer meal program without them.
They have earned our support and gratitude.
