USD 112 — Who is next?

On June 10 USD 112, at Wilson, voted to close CPMS at Bushton.

There was a fairly large group in attendance; it would have been a different group if the vote was at Bushton, Wilson is as far from Bushton as you can get in USD 112 as far as attendance centers go.

Board member Jerry Bieberle made a good argument to keep Bushton open arguing that it was the most efficient building in USD 112 and that to save $100,000 to $125,00 this year, USD 112 will spend $800,000 to $1,000,000 in the next three to five years to renovate Holyrood. I did not hear an argument against Jerrys statement.

Jerry Bieberle and Jacob Charvat voted no on the resolution to close Bushton.

Who is next? Can the board and superintendent Justify closing Wilson? Too many facilities in the district, not enough kids at Wilson, we have to consider what’s good for the district.

Could there be an argument for a new grade school/ junior high at Claflin and close Holyrood? It would be more efficient and the tax dollars from the OneOk gas plant close to Bushton would help pay for it.

Shoot! The only attendance centers left are in Claflin. Oh well, it’s efficient and good for the district.

Wilson/Dorrance patrons, do you want to attend that USD 112 meeting in Claflin where they vote to close the Wilson School?

Organize, retain a law firm and start the proceedings to withdraw from USD 112.

The USD 112 board and superintendent will not assist you in the endeavor, they will probably tell you it can’t be done, they need the Wilson/Dorrance tax dollars to operate USD 112.
