Vote for another Kassebaum

By

State Sen. Barbara Bollier spoke strongly in favor of principled representation at Josh Svaty’s Free State Farm last Saturday. Her opponent, Congressman Marshall, subscribes to what one might euphemistically label a more glib standard as evidenced by his flood of mailers engulfing readers’ mailboxes.

While Sen. Bollier reportedly has a three point lead in the polls, anyone remotely familiar with partisan politics in this country knows that such a lead is all but meaningless. As it always does in an election, the decision will come down to the votes.

Kansas voters wishing to elect a principled representative to the U.S. Senate need to understand that Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell cares not a whit for principle and he will pull out all stops to defeat Sen. Bollier.

Historically, the surest path to a short tenure in the U.S. Senate has been to stand firm on principle. That has never been truer than it is today in Mitch McConnell’s Senate. If Kansas voters have a sincere desire for principled representation, they will follow Sen. Bollier’s urging and vote early. In addition, I will urge that you do so in person, if possible, and use a paper ballot.

If you have any questions whatsoever, call Ms. Shelly Vopat at (785) 472-4161, especially if voting by mailin ballot.

A personal postscript of sorts, if I may. Sen. Bollier’s lifelong hero has been former Kansas Sen. Nancy Landon Kassebaum. For me Sen. Kassebaum was the prototypical senator, the epitome of what a senator should be. If Sen. Bollier can succeed in the same manner as former Sen. Kassebaum, Kansans will be well represented indeed.
