Volunteers make Splash & Blast success

Dear Linda –

The Ellsworth Area Chamber would like to take a few minutes of your loyal readers’ time to recognize those that made our Star-Spangled Splash & Blast event a success. For the second year now, Jerry and Angie Froese have done the fireworks portion of the evening. We wanted to give them a huge shout out. They generously give of their time and efforts to help make this community event special.

The Chamber has chosen to scale back the show — being good stewards of funds given, but still lighting up the sky in a spectacular and patriotic way. There may be many that didn’t realize the extra-large fireworks display from before is about a $10,000 undertaking.

There are also many others we need to thank. The City of Ellsworth is always so cooperative when it comes to the grounds, use of water, use of golf carts from the Ellsworth Golf Course and whatever else is needed. The behind the scenes folks would include Daren Webb and his inmate detail that prepare the grounds, along with the City grounds crew that mowed and prepared the areas as well. Thanks also to Cady Hansen for a beautiful rendition of The National Anthem, and The American Legion Post 174 Color Guard for the flag ceremony presentation. As you can see, there is so much that happens behind the scenes that goes unnoticed, but certainly not unappreciated.

Finally, this year’s Splash and Blast would not be possible without our business and club sponsors. We appreciate each and every one of them and the support they provide for this event.

The Splash & Blast committee’s goal is to provide a great community event while staying within our means. That being said, if our funds grow, so will the event, therefore we welcome your donations any time.

We had a Blast!
